A little about me

Scott is the co-founder of Burleigh Property Sales who, in 1992, together with his childhood friend Greg Dillon (and after already working in the industry since the 1980s), established the family owned and operated business it remains today.

If there’s one thing that makes Scott Boniwell stand out from other Real Estate Agents, it’s that his clients keep returning to him to help them sell their home, sometimes years, sometimes decades down the track, because they know and trust him. They tell their friends, they tell their family and they know and trust that he will do the right thing by them.

Finding a Real Estate Agent who’s been in the business for 40 years would be practically unheard of, certainly in Burleigh.

Even though his son, Joel Boniwell is stepping up as Principal, there’s no way Scott is going to stop.

“I’m staying because I’ve sold to people from years ago who keep ringing me because they want me to help them sell their property again. I enjoy it. I enjoy doing what I’m doing. But mostly, I really enjoy helping people.”

He arrived in Burleigh from Hobart in the late 1970s and owned, then sold two separate gift and tobacconist shops in Surfer’s Paradise – the old Black Dolphin Arcade, before taking the plunge into Real Estate. His childhood friend Greg Dillon followed him up from Hobart with his own family and Scott introduced him into Real Estate before the two decided, in 1992, to set up their own Real Estate business starting right here in James St, Burleigh Heads.

For Burleigh Property Sales, the recent relocation of the premises back to James Street has been like a homecoming in many ways, back to the roots of Burleigh Property Sales and where it all began. It was all about family then, and it’s all about family now, setting his sons and grandchildren up for the future in their own premises.

Scott remembers the first property he ever sold which was within a week of starting out in Real Estate back in the early 1980s. He remembers it because even thought he was an agent in Bureleigh, he saw an ad in the paper, phoned the agent and said he had a buyer. He drove up, took the buyer through the property, and sold it to them for $45,000!

Other early highlights for Scott in Real Estate include selling nearly every unit in the beachfront boutique Hibiscus Apartment block at Main Beach.

Another was selling the indoor cricket centre in Kingston which was the start of a career in trading property from Cairns to the Gold Coast for Scott.

Given his 40 years of selling real estate in Burleigh and throughout the Coast and beyond, there is nothing Scott hasn’t seen before or knows how to deal with.

A Burleigh icon in his own right, you’re in good hands with Scott Boniwell.
